General Overseer of Christian Central Chapel International, Bishop Emma Gospel Isong has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to confess his sins to Nigerians and pray for forgiveness if he wants to win his second terms bid in the 2019 presidential election. Isong stated that the President has committed so many sins against Nigerians but admitted that to seek a second term in office was Buhari’s constitutional right. OAU Commences Investigation Of Sex-For-Mark Scandal

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State has set up a committee to investigate the sex-for-mark scandal allegedly involving a lecturer of the institution. The scandal became viral when an audio-recording of a phone conversation recently surfaced on social media. The recording had the voice of the lecturer identified as Professor Akindele, whose name was mentioned by the student, sexually harassing a female student. UI Mgt Refuses To Reduce Fees Despite Student’s Protest

Amidst protest by medical students of the University of Ibadan (UI), Ibadan, the University management has insisted that there is no going back on the fees increase. Ahead of the new session that begins next week, the institution’s Senate had on Wednesday, April 4 approved that management increase the fees for hostel accommodation, practicals and field work for appropriate faculties. This decision did not go well with the students especially those at the College of Medicine who on Monday, April 9, led a protest for the school to rescind its decision. In his reaction, the Vice-chancellor of the institution, Professor Idowu Olayinka told Channels Television that the new fees are a good compromise blaming the increase on the amount of rot that has to be fixed in the hostels across campus. “As we speak we have 8,222 bed-spaces and the student population is about 27,000. Delta Govt Shuts Down Asaba Airport

The Delta state government has shut down the Asaba International Airport in the state capital, to enable the completion of the resurfacing of its runway. The Secretary to the State Government, Mr Ovie Agas, announced the closure of the airport on Monday during an interview with reporters in Asaba. “The airport will be closed for five weeks with effect from April 9, 2018, to enable the completion of the resurfacing of the Trunk B part of the runway. “Since the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) downgraded the airport in 2015, the airport has been undergoing a major upgrade, especially the resurfacing of its runway as well as the provision of some vital technical facilities,” the SSG said. He, however, assured the people if the state that at the end of the five-week duration of the closure, all things being equal, the airport would be back in full stream. Teenage singer, Ruti Olajugbagbe, has been crowned the winner of United Kingdom singing contest,  The Voice UK . The 18-year-old Nigerian defeated her runner-up Donel Mangena. Olajugbagbe broke down in tears on Saturday night after host Emma Willis announced her as the winner. Her coach Sir Tom Jones while describing her singing prowess said Olajugbagbe is ‘wonderful, magical, sincere’ singer. He said he is touched by her voice. She takes home the prize money of £100,000 prize, and a record deal with Republic Records. 8 candidates registered for common entrance exam in Zamfara – Minister

The Minister of Education  Adamu Adamu,  in a statement released in Abuja by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Priscillia Ihuoma, noted that only 28 candidates from Zamfara State registered for the 2018 National Common Entrance Examination. The minister said the Federal Government was worried about the low number of candidates seeking admission into its 104 colleges across the country. Pleading with state governments, heads of schools and interest groups to persuade school-age children in the areas with low registration to register for the examination, he said that a directive had been given to leave the portal open for registration until April 13.

According to Facebook user, Cecilia Dikibo, the elderly man pictured above was apprehended after he raped a 10 year old girl in Ahoda, a community in Rivers state. The accused is said to be the chairman of the Parents Teachers Association of the Girls School, Ahoada.
