FG Confirms Release Of 101 Dapchi School Girls

Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed has confirmed the release of one hundred and one out of the one hundred and ten girls abducted from a Government Girls' secondary school in Dapchi Yobe, State.

Ahead of the Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja today, Defence Minister, Mansur Dan-Ali spoke to reporters and was quoted saying, 'all the security forces were asked to do everything to ensure the safe return of the Dapchi girls. The released Girls are in Dapchi and being documented; Situation is developing; release is outcome of “backchannel” negotiations; no ransoms were paid'.

Information Minister, Lai Mohammed also chiipped in that, 'President Buhari’s directive to security agencies to ensure the return of the Dapchi girls has yielded fruit'.

EFCC arrests Governor Dickson’s ex-aide for offering N10m bribe to EFCC official

A former Senior Special Assistant on Media to Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson, has been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The suspect, Abnedgo Don- Evarada, was arrested on Monday in Port- Harcourt, Rivers State for allegedly offering a bribe of N10million (Ten Million Naira) to the EFCC’s Zonal Head in Port- Harcourt, Mr Ishaq Salihu. Don-Evarada ran into trouble when he approached Salihu, over a case involving the Senior Special Assistant to the Bayelsa’s state governor on Millennium Development Goals, Apere Embelakpo and his wife, Fiene Beauty. Embelakpo is being investigated for alleged diversion of N800million (Eight Hundred Million Naira only), being funds meant for the Millennium Development Goals, MDG, while his wife is being investigated for alleged money laundering, forgery and suspicious transactions to the tune of N200million (Two Hundred Million Naira only). The 15th matriculation ceremony for the 2016/2017 academic session has been scheduled to hold on  Saturday, July 8th 2017   at the  Niger Delta University Gloryland Main Campus Auditorium . The procedures for the 15th matriculation ceremony are as follows; All Matriculants are expected to pay the sum of three thousand naira (#3,000)  cash only to the Bursar's Representative at the various faculties.
