The General Overseer of the City of Liberation and Comfort Ministry, Bishop Ginika Obi, has been remanded in Enugu Maximum Prison for allegedly defrauding his members to the tune of over N500 million. Spokesperson for the Enugu State police command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, in a statement on Tuesday, October 17, said the bishop whose church/office is located at Km 111, Enugu-Port Harcourt highway, Enugu, was arraigned on the 11th of Oct at the Enugu Federal High Court and case was presided over by Justice A. Liman. According to Amarizu, he said the suspect had been in prison custody since Oct. 12 and that further hearing on his case had been scheduled for Nov. 1 and Nov. 2. “His offences ranging from conspiracy and advance fee fraud were committed in conjunction with others now at large. An 87-year-old lawyer and former lawmaker, Senator Cyrus Nunieh, said he decided to marry another wife because he was alone and needed a companion. Nunieh officially married a lady in her 40s on Tuesday at the Presidential Hotel in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. The former member of the National Assembly, who said he was now a king in Ogoniland, Rivers State, explained that he had been alone after his former wife died in 1991. Speaking with our correspondent on the telephone on Tuesday, Nunieh pointed out that his children were all adults, who had ventured into various business of their own, adding that he could no longer cope with loneliness. A man , Mr Obinna Ugwuoke from Ebonyi state, temporarily went insane after discovering that his wife gave birth to conjoined babies fused at the stomach at First Covenant Hospital in Satellite Town, Lagos on the 8th of May 2017. The happily married couple with two children – were shocked on seeing their new babies after the delivery. According to reports, the twin babies (two boys) have been named James and John. The financially restrained parents are still in the hospital waiting to carry out a separation surgery on the babies.

Protesters Chukwudi Akasike and Friday Amobi, Port Harcourt Scores of youths took to the streets on Friday in Port Harcourt in protest of extrajudicial killings allegedly perpetrated by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of Nigeria Police on Rivers State. The youths, who gathered under the aegis of the Niger Delta Non-Violence Youth Leaders Assembly converged on the popular Moscow Road in Port Harcourt, displaying placards with various inscriptions. A new airborne Ebola-like viral disease, referred to as ‘Monkey Pox” has hit the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH), Okolobiri in Yenagoa local council of Bayelsa State. Consequently, a medical doctor and 10 others have already been diagnosed of the disease and had been quarantined at the NDUTH in Okolobiri. The isolation centre was created by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and the epidemiological team of the state Ministry of Health to check the spread of the virus. It was learnt that the NCDC and the epidemiological team were tracking 49 other suspected cases, who were said to have come in contact with the infected persons. Experts in town planning and urban development have blamed the rising cases of flooding in Lagos State on human activities and lack of proper enforcement of environmental laws. The Executive Director, Hanorado Global Solutions Limited, Mr. Hakeem Ogunbambi, said at the Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, Lagos State Chapter, that the state was undergoing grave and severe pressures from overcrowding, overdevelopment, overharvesting and industrial pollution, whereas it was being under-serviced with water, sanitation, roads and flood control infrastructure. Ogunbambi, who spoke as the guest lecturer on ‘The challenges of managing flood in Lagos mega city’, said the state was affected by urban area flooding generated by extremely flat topography, excessive rainfall, inadequate storm water drainage system, inadequate or dysfunctional municipal planning and obstruction of natural streams and water courses. Two women had their ears cut off last week during an attack. According to reports, one Glory, married to a man named Godspower Ben from Bayelsa state, got separated from her and started dating another lady called Bridget. Suspecting that they were planning on getting married, Glory stormed Bridget's home on Wednesday, September 27th and during their fight, she cut off Bridget's ear. Bridget's family members held her down and also cut off her ear. Both women were taken to the hospital and are currently receiving medical attention.
